VMD - Am I in or out?
Many emails have poured in over the last few months asking if I’m still involved with VMD. In fact, even an email from a gentleman named Jerry came in a few minutes ago that said:
“So are you out of (VMD) or is your new site a shift in marketing approach?”
Some of you may remember my last website was all about VMD. It was full of videos, information, training, and more. It played a major roll in how I built my business over the last four years. Because the company went public and for reasons you’ll be learning about as the year goes on, they really needed to ensure that their name was protected.
This is typical, normal, and expected for any Network Marketing Company that goes public and begins to explode. By protecting the name, it protects everyone - including our paychecks… so believe me, I am highly in favor of that.
Now I cannot mention the full name of the company on a public website, I will refer to them as “VMD” going forward. However, if you would like to know the name of the company that I am associated with, please contact me. You can do so by clicking here.
So to answer Jerry’s question and the many others who have emailed me… allow me to explain what I’m up to here. You see, a door closed on me. In fact, it was a big door. The way that I had been marketing my business had gone away over night. It’s no one’s fault. Things change and I accept that and in many ways count on things changing. Why?
Because with change comes opportunity.
I believe that it’s those who embrace change the most who will in turn become the most successful. Change is never easy. In fact, it down right stinks most of the time, doesn’t it?
So what. I had to completely reinvent myself and my business. I admit that it did take some time to figure out some new directions and all of which are still fluid and some are totally untested, but that’s what makes this exciting. In fact, what I truly love about the VMD business is that it’s always changing. Marketing online and offline is always changing. New ideas are born every day. New challenges arise. Each and every day is different. It’s the most perfect business for those with ADD! :)
Now I’m sure a lot of people out there would have said $&@ this and left a company if they shut down how you had been marketing for four years. In fact, several years ago I would have been one to do just that. Years ago, I didn’t like change simply because I didn’t realize that the biggest opportunities come with change. And without it, everything would always stay the same.
How foolish was I during those ‘rebel years’…
So instead of tossing the towel, I put my nose down to the dirt and dove into learning as much as I could as fast as I could learn it. And I’d say that within the last 3 months, I’ve learned more about marketing and business than I’ve learned in the past two years - even spending a good hour + a day learning.
So as far as VMD is concerned, I am 100% IN. Always have been - always will be. I’ve been a full-time VMD Affiliate for four years now. I joined the very first day when the opened the doors when they had only one product that was… well… it worked sometimes. ha ha! But now things are ROCKING. Big time.
My new site isn’t just a new shift in my marketing approach… it’s a complete shift all together in many different areas. In many ways I’ll be more free to do more of what I had been wanting to do. My previous site held me back - and looking at it now, I was the one holding myself back. The site was too narrow; too focused. It inhibited my creative juices to flow so I had to let them flow elsewhere - even under different pen names. :)
But now, this new site (which is one of many new sites I’m gearing up to launch) is an evolution. Although I am still moving in the same direction that I have been going in - I’m just trying out different vehicles to see which one is faster.
I’ll be disclosing a TON of information that you may even be shocked that I’m disclosing in the coming weeks. And yes, I’ve created some of my own products that I’ll be selling as well. Some people look at that and turn their heads - while others may be excited because they know that they may be able to learn something.
Only one “hate” email came in when I let everyone know about: http://www.internetadvertisersedge.com. The guy Bill, who has been emailing me “hate” email for months now (which often times were quite amusing), made some comments about the fact that I’ll be selling some of my own products. None of which were very nice. In fact, I couldn’t post the words he used here.
Sad, really. He just doesn’t get it.
Fact is, over the next few months, if you are looking for ideas on how you can market ANY business, then you’re going to want to watch everything I do. I’m going to be testing MANY things and providing you with some of the results of recent successful and failed marketing tests. And yes, some of those tests will involved my own products. I think it’ll become clear in a couple of weeks when you see what I launch.
I’ve spent tens of thousands over the last year investing in my marketing and business education - thousands of which over just the last 40 days. I’m watching a good 100+ other marketers out there… watching their every move, seeing their every product, researching every MLM company that comes along, and taking what works and testing it myself.
And for you - if you are already involved in a business or plan on being involved in one someday - the BEST thing that you can do is invest as much time and money as you can into your marketing education. There are a lot of free lessons out there. Check out other people’s blogs like Seth Godin. Heck, you could even go to the Diva Marketing Blog if you wanted to. I also get a lot of great ideas and information from John at Duct Tape Marketing.
Bottom line: VMD not allowing their Affiliates to mention the words, “VMDixxxx” on a website has truly made this business opportunity 10,000 times larger than it was before.
Get creative out there… that’s what I’m going to do.

Rob - Some people who haven’t surfed about the “new social internet” may be surprised at the extent of the quality of information that many generous people are sharing. Thanks for the nice shout out to Diva Marketing .. it’s a kick to be mentioned with the likes of Seth and John (smile).
Toby,
Would welcome but…
Whoa! Talk about faster than a speeding bullet!
I posted this only a few hours ago and you post a response… are you watching me???? LOL
Just happened to be looking at blog stats at that moment in time!
Hey Rob, nice job on the site. One definately has to evolve to stay ahead of the learning curve. For people just stopping by, pay close attention, the guy’s golden. Take care.
