It feels soooooo good to be able to say it again!
A new ruling has been made and those who are One Star Diamonds and above in VMdirect (Rob is an Independent Affiliate of VMdirect) are now allowed to have websites that mention the name, VMdirect.
As you can imagine, this new ruling was both good and bad for me. Good for the fact that I will soon to be back to the old me and second, and bad for the fact that I had to recreate everything all over again.
I’ve been busting my butt creating the new Robert-Hawthorne.com website. I’d love to show it to everyone, but in order to comply with the new regulations; I need to submit the site to VMdirect for approval. I’m sure it’ll pass with flying colors as I know what can and cannot be said on a website better than anyone out there. This is all I’ve done for the past five years!
But what I can do is provide you with a screenshot of what it will look like:

Looks something like this, right? Well that’s because I decided to keep the same look and feel of this new website design. There was actually a lot to it, but that is all explained on the new site.
Now that I can spread my wings, ya’ll (I live in Texas, I can get away with writing that - you’ll never hear me say it!) be excited to know that I’m shifting directions in several ways in my marketing… again.
But this time it’ll be the way that I was about to launch anyway.
This has been interesting for me. Being that my website is very public in the VMdirect world and for the fact that so many emails come in from Affiliates whom I’ve never met letting me know how much they liked my old site and what I was doing before, I came to a realization that freaked me out a little.
Everyone witnessed what one had to do when your business took a drastic shift. Yeah, I admit, I did drag my feet a little initially, but I had no choice but to find a new direction and ways to market my business and myself. And as you can see by the uncompleted links on the top of the page, I was still dragging my feet a little hoping things would go back. And they did.
For me being a private person who keeps to himself (those of you who have seen me at events can attest to that!), all of this has been quite public. But there are a lot of lessons in here that I hope others can learn from.
I can tell you that if something like this happened to me five or more years ago, I would have been long gone and off to the next ‘get rich quick’ deal I could find. I bounced around from job-to-job and business to business so many times simply because I didn’t want to get my hands dirty. I wanted everything to be easy.
But as time went on, I learned that in business, there are always challenges. There will always be something going on, fires to put out, and you need to learn how to adapt to change quickly. Now I admit, I didn’t adapt to things as quickly as I wanted to (I did do quite a bit of traveling over the last few months), I did take action. And frankly, I didn’t even think about it. I just knew it was something I had to do.
I realize more and more each day how much your mindset plays into your success. Sometimes you’re lacking just one minor tweak. Sometimes you’re holding onto something so small that you don’t even realize that it is holding you back from greatness and achieving all of your dreams.
Sometimes all it takes is letting go.
As for me, although I loved the new direction that my new site was about to go in, I let it go tonight. See ya. Take care. I know that the new direction will be even better.
I also know that my new direction will be a little controversial. I’ve already tested a few things out and over all, the reactions have been incredible. However, I did get a couple of those “why are you doing this” type responses from people. The “why are you doing this” was my way of turning their words into something a little nicer than what they said.
That proved to me that it was the right direction to go. If you’re marketing and not causing a little stir out there (good and bad) then you may need to spice up your marketing a little. :)
One way or another, I’ll be launching the new robert-hawthorne.com which has over 20 pages of never before seen content. Everything on the website has been hand written by yours truly and literally all it has from the old robert-hawthorne.com website is two images.
It’ll be interesting to see people’s reactions out there - especially about the controversial parts…
Wish me luck. I hope to get the approval by the end of the week. :)
Rob
P.S… VMdirect. VMdirect. VMdirect. I need to get this out of my system. Feels good to be able to say the magical name again.
P.P.S… Rob Hawthorne is an Indpendant Affiliate of VMdirect. (That has already been added to all of my pages of my new site, but not this one. So I just needed to do that to cever myself here.)
